Atheists, do think Christians often lie to parole boards and claim that they've converted to atheism since being incarcerated?
If not, what does this say about the number of atheists in prison? And what does it say about the character of Christians compared to that of atheists?

Government statistics show that Christians are vastly over represented in prisons for sexual, violent and fraudulent crime whilst year on year government figures show atheists make up only 2% of the prison population!
Parole boards are deeply suspicious about conversion claims and openly state that claims to have converted to Chrsitianity are very likely to hamper parole not help it!

Atheists make up around 10 percent of the american population yet make up less than 1 percent of the prison population. I think this is due to many factors, people lying to parole boards probably isn't a big one.

US has the highest incarceration rates in the world at more than 700 per 100,000 people and it is 6 to 7 times higher than highly atheistic countries like Finland, China, Japan, etc.
Another comparison is that the 10 most religious countries are African nations and these nations have among the highest crime rates in the world.
Global studies showed that for per 100,000 people the number of violent crimes committed are as follows: Blacks 149, whites 42, East Asians 35. The East Asians happen to be the least religious (there are 47% confirmed atheists in China). Blacks in US are more religious than their whites counterpart and yet statistics show that Blacks committed much higher crime rates.
All these point, indirectly that there's a correlation between crimes and religiosity.

No, they probably don't. Let's take a look, shall we?
Mehta contacted the Federal Bureau of Prisons, and asked them about the religious affiliation of prisoners, by filing a Freedom of Information Act request. In a short time the U.S. Department of Justice, Federal Bureau of Prisons responded and sent the Frequency of Religious Affiliation of inmates in the federal prisons figures, as of April 27, 2013. The data proved that atheists made up only 0.07% of the prison population, even a lower number that was previously thought.
Hmm... makes sense. That's only 7 in 10,000.
But these numbers cannot mean anything without comparing them to the general population. According to Pew Forum on Religion & Public Life’s 2008 U.S. Religious Landscape Survey, atheists make up 1.6% of the population, and according to the 2008 American Religious Identification Survey, 0.7% of the population described themselves as atheists. Regardless of the small number, based on one or the other religious identification survey, atheists aren’t proportionally represented in prison, as a matter of fact they are by far misrepresented, with a very small number of inmates per overall atheist population.
So this tells me that Christians are far more prone to criminal activity than atheists.

Atheists make up .02 PERCENT of the incarcerated prison population.
Most criminals are theists. By a HUGE majority.
Your hypothetical says that prison parole boards can sometimes be cynically manipulated by claims of conversion. But most of those claiming prison conversion were theists to begin with.

Frank, Uh, If one lies then they are not Christians now are they. Do you actually think that a parole board cares what you believe in especially when it is convenient.

Most people in prison profess Christianity but certainly don't live it, Christians are inveterate liars

no but it doesn't matter since the stats are taken at entrance to the prison, not at parole. one would think they'd smarten up and claim they were jewish or muslim since the kosher and halal meals are much better than regular fare
