Why do they sell wine and beer in grocery stores, but not liquor?
Why is it you have to go to a liquor store to get it, but not at grocery stores? I work at one and I wondered " why we got beer and wine here, wheres the liquor at?"

Every state has different laws regulating what establishments can sell different types of alcohol. Some states allow absolutely everything to be sold at grocery stores, while others mandate that everything must be sold through state-run liquor stores.
Most states allow beer and wine (or any drink under 20% ABV or any undistiled drink) to be sold in grocery stores, but mandate that liquor must be sold through liquor stores. I worked for a wholesale store several years ago that sold beer, wine and liquor... due to the laws in our state (GA) the liquor had to be sold in a walled-off department under a dummy company (Ga #1 Beverage) that "rented" the space from the main store.

Local state liquor laws dictate which stores can sell what. It varies in many states.

No doubt in your state a beer / wine license is separate from a distilled spirits license, and less expensive as well.
