Why does education discourage Intuition in children?

Why do teachers discourage, mock, and ridicule children who demonstrate a high level of Enlightenment?

Update:

Appreciate answers, but still looking for what "causes" adults to resist Intuition in children?

http://about-psychology.com/intuition.html

Update 2:

Susan, I believe you are correct with Waldorf. Thanks.

The people that have developed the public school systems and what to teach do not want the children to have a feel for things in an equal fashion. They keep repeating the same history of what does and does not work, and try to make it continue on in the same what does, and what does not work. Well, we know already what does and what does not work, and that is inequality, right here. So, rather than change it, some people keep it redundant, so they have privledge over the other's, and this is the way it doesn't work. When people have to base a living off of teaching these texts the school board recommends and the testing they require from it, then the teacher's job depends on it. So, in fact they don't want the teacher's having a feel for it, and disrupting their privledge. More homeschooling with teacher's free to teach equality, and the intuition and high level of Enlightenment will avail. Because, people are more than robots for other's to use at their disposal, and the more people that keep having to go through it as adults, are not wanting this taught to the children. We know that this isn't what will make them all happy. Even those who try and stifle it are not happy with it. So, it needs to change... for those who have, good for you! Here's a word up!

You need to take a look at the Waldorf Schools that were created by Rudolph Steiner for the purpose of developing intuition! While today's practitioners are not as savvy about his original thoughts, the principles and practices still uphold intuition.

Many in society are consumed with mocking things they do not understand, if not downright destroying them. It seems to be a cultural norm. If you take a look at the answers to those who ask intuition related questions here on Yahoo, there are many who ridicule and mock them as well.

Not sure about "intuition". I found when I was in school, and when my kids were in school, that most teachers valued conformity over everything, especially over academic excellence. A higher that average level of achievement, was viewed as disruptive.

The US educational system has been falling behind for many years now. Currently we rate around 19th to 27th, in the world, depending on who's system you use for rating. That's behind a lot of developing nations. Not too good. The entire system needs an overhaul. Currently, it isn't working.
