PS3 game stuck in PS3, loud ticking noise?

I inserted Star Wars: The Force Unleashed into my PS3 on Saturday while holding the PS3 at a downward angle (because I was also plugging in the HDMI cord into the back). The game was automatically ejected. I thought I accidentally ejected it myself, so I took it out and put it back in. Then it started making a loud ticking noise. I tried to eject the game, but it made that triple 'beep', as if there were no game in it at all. So I turned it off. Any time I turn it on, it makes that loud ticking noise. I was going to just take off the cover with the 'PLAYSTATION 3' logo on it and just take out my disc, but I couldn't figure out how to get that off. I found that video on the support website saying to keep my thumb on the eject button while turning on the PS3, then repeatedly hit the eject button with my thumb. But smoke started coming out of the vent and the ticking momentarily got faster (until I turned it off with the switch in the back). I /really/ do not want to take this to a tech shop or anything. Anyone know what to do, since the person who helped me in the Playstation Live Chat didn't? Thanks in advance.

P.S. My PS3 is not the Slim, it's the 'fat' (i believe it's called).

P.S.S. The model number is: CECHG01 if that makes a difference.

Update:

@Norak D

If it is the disc drive, would the trick still work with holding the eject button? I'm just worried that if it won't work but I try anyway, that the game will break inside of the system, then shards would get stuck inside of the console itself.

    The "smoke" you saw could have just been dust. If it really *was* smoke, then you have a HUGE problem and shouldn't even try turning it on lest you cause more damage. The ticking noise sounds like the disc drive or the cooling fan has gone bad. The only thing you can do, short of taking it to a shop, is to open it up and see what may be causing the problems. If you're not comfortable doing anything like that, then your only true last resort is to just get another PS3.
