What makes my cursor blink?

My cursor started blinking a while ago and it is driving me nuts.I went to my control panel and slid the cursor blink speed bar to none,but it is still blinking. How do I stop it other than taking a hammer to the keyboard and mouse?

Update:

Thanks for the answers, but it stopped after I closed a tab I had opened to see what the Mega Millions numbers were.The cursor was just taunting me, reminding me that I didn't win!

    The cursor blink happens when there is something too complex running on your computer, it does get annoying.

    you must also try to slid the cursor blink speed bar to full.

    try restarting your computer, maybe it is just due to lag of your computer
