drinking cake batter?
so there was a recipe I found on an Instagram page. the cake batter milkshake. the recipe called for milk, ice cream, and cake mix powder.
I made the milkshake and it came out really good. but I wanted to know of it is safe to drink. I didn't add eggs or oil or anything. just vanilla ice cream, milk, and cake mix.
is it safe?

It's just flour, extra sugars and flavorings! Nothing at all that is "bad" for you. Even if you added the eggs and oil, it would still be okay for most people to drink.

That's extremely rich and calorie-heavy, but safe. What makes cake batter potentially unsafe to eat raw are the eggs. Untreated eggs can have salmonella on the shell, and since most people can't or don't crack eggs open properly (flat surface, not on the edge of a bowl or counter), they get shell in the egg itself and contaminate it. Most eggs now are treated with UV or other things that kill the bacteria off, so they're -usually- safe. The warnings about eating raw cake batter are precautionary (especially for pregnant women) measures recommended by lawyers to avoid lawsuits.

As long as there aren't raw eggs in it, cake batter is safe to eat. But, I'd be concerned about the amount of sugar and empty calories in a shake like that.

there is nothing in dry cake mix that can make you ill except an overload of sugar.
