Now that we no longer vote for best answers, how will they be determined if the asker doesn't choose?

With the new update to yahoo answers I have to wonder how a Best Answer will be chosen when the asker doesn't bother to choose one. I've received many of my Best Answers by popular votes because the asker didn't choose. What's going to happen to those type questions now?

They shouldn't base the 'best answer' on TU's.

I have done a lot of random voting since I joined this site in October.

I see many people that give great answers get 6 or more TD's while dumb answers get mostly TU's.

Lots of members including myself put a lot of effort into really 'answering' the question at hand.

I've also seen an answer that has 6 or more TD's be chosen as 'best' by the OP in which case OP was not looking for the right answer they just wanted someone to 'agree' with them.

Letting a 'best' be given based on this method is NO different then allowing the OP to give a BA for their friend.

It's the same as having a TC badge. It means nothing except the one with the badge answers a lot of questions in a certain section. Very few deserve the badge yet I've seen some that have them constantly rant, copy/paste, & even offend the OP and still have a badge.

Chances are they won't. About 95% of the time, in the categories I frequent, voting is what chooses the best answer. If they add a points penalty for not choosing, or up the points reward for choosing, they may be able to change that, but right now the people who ask either don't know they should, or don't bother to choose a best answer.

They won't be resolved until one is chosen. The number of thumbs will determine the order they show instead of as before by time posted. Having the most thumbs up won't automatically get best answer by default.

If there is no best answer then they will be ranked based on thumbs up/down.
