Should I buy aftermarket cat converter?

Car: 2002 Nissan Quest GXE 150Kmi

I live in Virginia but my car is a California emissions vehicle. If I buy a Walker converter which is Federal/EPA certified and a direct fit part. Will I pass inspection or does it have to be a part that is CARB compliant?

Update:

OEM is $2000 for the part, but there was a mix up so they are chargin $1300 +labor=$2,125.

NO! They rust a lot faster and then you will have to replace its again and then there's more money out the door. Get a stock one they are a little more money but they are worth it. Stock if usually better .

Yes, they work fine. I purchased a Walker Evans Cat for $80.00 and had it welded on. It passed SMOG with no issues. This is on an 1988 chevy truck, so the emissions on that engine are no where near what a 2002 has.

NO. Replace your converter with a Direct Fit Bolt On Walker Converter. Scope out rockauto.com, partstrain.com and autopartswarehouse.com.
