Can I open a Tire shop without a mechanic certificate?

I don't need "no one will bring business to you without a certificate"

I just need answers to my question.

QUESTION: Can I open a Tire Shop without a certificate?

- All I will do is just replace tires. Put new tires on their car.

I've had over 10 years experience and replaces more than 5-10 vehicles per month. (free)

So I was just wondering.... Thank you.

Additional info:

- I live in California

I'm not aware of any state that requires mechanics to be certified. And Ogre is right, no one looks for the certificates.

On the other hand if you know your stuff you can pass the exam without much effort.

If you don't know your stuff, you shouldn't be opening a business.

I am not sure but I don't think you have to have one, usually when you go work for someone it is the insurance company wants employees to be certified. I went to apply for a business license and they told me there is no such thing as a business license for Aiuto Body Shop. You can check the county court house or where that may apply, I went to the municiple building. I gained you may be able to call and ask, I believe there is a way to check on the internet county business regulations or set hong like that. Check your county.
