What is the difference between 'follow publicly' and follow 'privately' ?

This is a question about Yahoo answers. I have the option of viewing a question publicly or privately. Could someone explain what this means? Thank you.

As far as I am aware it refers to being able to follow without others knowing eg in private.or conversely in public meaning all can see what we or who we are following.

    cidyah--

I'd like to know the answer to that one too. It seems that some folks that are high ranking players pile up a lot of points in a week's time without seeing their Best Answers...I know I'm not online 24/7 but folks piling up 1000+ pts in a week is a little strange to me. Private answering should NOT BE ALLOWED unless there is an email exchange between the poster and the answerer...and that shouldn't count on points....it's doing the poster a

favor. Public answering should be transparent...you post, you get an answer and either you or voters pick

best answer...that is the way it SHOULD be.

Literally as it says. "Private" is to do so without anyone knowing.. or making a fuss.
