What stereotypes are there in fiction for each hair color?

There's the dumb blonde who just cares about boys and clothes, the brainy brunette who's a bookworm, the fiery redhead who gets mad easily and the black haired goth who just looks scary. What else is there? They can come from any character from any story. What are they called and/or how would would you describe black hair stereotypes, brown hair stereotypes etc?

Well, as you already stated, blondes supposedly lack intelligence, they are picky, flirty, outgoing, and like to have fun; brunettes are supposedly loyal, trustworthy, even tempered, clever, either gifted or average, confident, and stable.

People with red hair are often portrayed as being hot-tempered, foul mouthed, eager, cheerful, opinionated, impatient, powerful, loving, insightful, sincere, and excited; people with dark hair are represented as someone who`s reserved, calm, selfish, sad, evil, suspicious, mysterious, artistic, shadowy, and untrustworthy.

And lastly, people with white or grey hair are seen as someone who has experienced a lot, someone who`s dignified, wise, spiritual, skillful, mentally powerful, pure, clean, and old.

A lot depends on the culture or part of society you come from:

Red hair is associated with the passionate, creative and wilder soul. Also it was traditionally connected with Royalty because many of the European Houses had Auburn and Copper hair.

Blonde hair was traditionally associated with the Northern European who had strength, valour and culture but were not necessarily literate in tradition.

Brown Hair is linked to the conservative and moderate because the hair would not be weathered or coloured by tints or the Sun, therefore they were not flamboyant, labourers or land workers.

Black hair was linked to the Mediterranean and Eastern cultures how did have traditional education, literary and mathematical, so the higher minded or deeper thinker.

Grey hair is associated with time, age and experience. Whilst White hair, because of its purity and cleanliness of colour denoted wisdom and the sage.

A combination of this, the eye colour and the skin tone is what gives the dramatic effect.

Ummmm, I think I hear the stereotype that redheads are hot, black haired girls are mysterious, and blondes have "more fun"

Source(s): I'm a brunette and I can't think of any more stereotypes for us. Hope I helped!

In sweet valley high series, all the blondes in those books are either really dumb or just like to party. The other answerer got it right though. (:

I gave Eeznii my vote. She said it in detail and I agree on her last description, the reason why I chose my avatar to have white hair to depict the wizard that I am or what I picture myself to be even if that was pure imagination on my part.

It depends on exactly what the girl looks like. I just like both, but I'd say blonde generally goes well with everyone. Some cannot pull black off.

Don't forget an Old Mans white beard.
