Why wont subtitles work on Netflix?
I recently got a computer equipped with Windows 8, and I downloaded the Netflix app. I watch Scrubs on my own and Supernatural with my girlfriend and with both shows, the subtitles refuse to work properly at times. When I play either one I can activate the subtitles, and they'll pop up, but it will only provide subtitles for one line of dialogue, and the subtitles basically freeze on that one line. The show plays normally, but that one line of subtitle just sits on the screen. No matter how many times I turn the subtitles on and off, it always freezes on one line and stops working. This also happens on my girlfriend's tablet, and less frequently on my Xbox 360. Anyone know of a way to fix this?

On you're computer, you may need to update Silverlight (which is what you have to download to watch the videos). Other than that, it might just be you're account, so you could email Netflix Help Services.

Anyone mentioning silverlight is barking up the wrong tree.
One main point of using IE or netflix app in win8 is that netflix does NOT use silverlight it uses html5. On low end PCs this means there is hardly any cpu usage so you can get HD without stutter (just not subtitles correctly).

I have this exact issue.
Tried the silver light update suggestion, and unless windows update is the wrong place to check, I have no such update available.
I do have a bandaid fix, turn off subtitles close the app and open it back up then turn them back on. Seems to work most of the time.
Any other ideas?

While it's true that some t.v. programs are better at informing and portraying than books, books in themselves are an escape. Personally, i would have a book over t.v.
