Can ADD be transferred from one generation to the next?

ADD tends to run in families. Studies have shown certain genetic characteristics that occur with high frequency in families where one or more family member has ADD. Also, if one or both parents have ADD, their children are more likely to develop the condition. And at least one-third of all fathers or mothers who had ADD in their youth have children with ADD. Experts do know that ADD has a strong genetic component. I have severe ADD and my mother does to. She doesn't take any medication for it, but I do. ADD is very easily controlled with the proper medications etc. So if any of your offspring develop ADD it's ok, it's not the end of the world!

It could be possible, but rare. Most people with ADD have no one in the family with it (parents, siblings, grandparents, etc). But if it is possible (I am not a scientist), it probably could skip a few generations just like any other disorders/diseases that are hereditary.
