A friend was fired and the company owes him for overtime?

Who can he contact, if anyone, to help with this? He has worked for this company for 2 years. He was fired because he is a bit of a squeaking wheel. But he did his job and they owe him for several hours of overtime and a couple of days when he took sick leave and it was "Accidentally" not paid by the payroll dept. This is a private non-profit company that is wholly supported by our county and it seems that those in charge short change 2 or 3 different employees each month. Maybe more, if any of them don't mention it.

overtime laws do vary by state and there are also some states with no specific laws pertaining to overtime pay, so it depends on which state your friend is in. States typically do have an office that deals with wage laws and doing this wage claim stuff. I don't know if your friend has a claim or not since there is still some facts that are kind of unknown.
