  • I am about to have my house foreclosed on.?

a friend of mine has a problem. He is divorcing his wife. She turned around and lied to get a restraining order. When they were in court last month she testified that the payments were up to date. Another lie. In a few days the third payment will be late and they could lose the house. He has been paying rent and hasn t got the money to pay 3 payments. Or any payments as far as that goes. What should he do. If anything.

  • From feast to famine? What have you learned?

Once you were at the top... You had arrived. Now it's gone. Can you help others guard against the same thing happening to them?

  • Can broken teeth be ground to the gum line and dentures fitted?

Pulling the teeth causes deformities on the face. I would think there is a substance that could seal off a ground down tooth to eliminate the need to extract.

  • A friend was fired and the company owes him for overtime?

Who can he contact, if anyone, to help with this? He has worked for this company for 2 years. He was fired because he is a bit of a squeaking wheel. But he did his job and they owe him for several hours of overtime and a couple of days when he took sick leave and it was "Accidentally" not paid by the payroll dept. This is a private non-profit company that is wholly supported by our county and it seems that those in charge short change 2 or 3 different employees each month. Maybe more, if any of them don't mention it.

  • What are the must have wine glasses?

Lets say I invite friends for dinner and they bring a bottle of something that I have never heard of. They say it is a dessert wine or cognac or it is wonderful over vanilla ice cream. I don't know my way around this stuff and I just want to be prepared. If the 2 sizes of stemmed glasses are all i need that is fine too. I don't want to only get by with what I have if there is anything proper I should have on hand.

Maybe you found a gem in a garage sale, maybe a store had a blue light special, could be something on craigslist or Amazon or yahoo...Maybe you didn't think something you bought was a good price but when you got it home it performed much better than expected. No commercials allowed. I'll be watching.

  • Two generations of wills, which takes presidence?

I am asking this on behalf of a friend's wife. Grandma died and left everything to her two daughters One daughter (my friend's mother) was made executor of the will. Her sister was to receive half of the money if or when anything was sold. Mom was greedy and chose not to sell anything. Now mom has died and left everything to my friend's wife and her brother. Does her aunt still have a claim for half of anything they sell? Grandma's will says the aunt cannot force the sell of anything.

  • Hostess. If corporations are people, isn't this murder?

As Hostess was preparing to file for bankruptcy earlier this year, the then CEO of Hostess was awarded a 300 percent raise (from approximately $750,000 to $2,550,000) and at least nine other top executives of the company received massive pay raises. One such executive received a pay increase from $500,000 to $900,000 and another received one taking his salary from $375,000 to $656,256.

They killed Hostess. So are corporations people or not?

  • What can we do to help President Obama break through the Congressional blockade and fix our country?

Will the Republican Congress continue to stop the President at every turn? Will they continue on the same course and lose again in 2016 by their own hand? What can we the people do to convince them that our country is more important than either political party. I cannot recall a time when a party turned to such underhanded tactics to win and yet be rewarded with so many votes? The Christian Right? How can they justify that they voted for this man knowing what foundation his campaign was sitting on? How can we help fix this thing that is so broken? We can reach our hand across the isle but will anyone take it? I don't hate Republican's. They mean as much to me as anyone else in this country. But I got the feeling that they hate me? I listened when they called me stupid and I even responded. Sometimes it hit me wrong and I let them know it. That is over now but somehow I don't feel we have won the whole victory.

  • If there was a vote tomorrow that would make the US prosperous again...?

and this prosperity would be immediate and during the presidency of President Obama, How would you vote?

A yes means a return to prosperity immediately

A no means we stay on this course we are on.

A best answer will be given only if you support your vote with why or why not.

  • Should yahoo answers make answers searchable by the asker's and the answerers' name?

It concerns me that most of the top answerers (the top 3 for sure) hide their questions and answers from being viewed. Their identity is already sheltered by the use of a handle. I have about 1,200 answer and they are not hidden. I can't think of a valid reason to do so. Makes me wonder what's up? Why would you want to hide your Questions and Answers? Maybe there is a valid reason?

  • What president said this? I found this part of it in my father's papers.?

...Let me warn you and let me warn the Nation against the smooth evasion which says, "Of course we believe all these things; we believe in social security; we believe in work for the unemployed; we believe in saving homes. Cross our hearts and hope to die, we believe in all these things; but we do not like the way the present Administration is doing them. Just turn them over to us. We will do all of them- we will do more of them we will do them better; and, most important of all, the doing of them will not cost anybody anything."

But, my friends, these evaders are banking too heavily on the shortness of our memories. No one will forget that they had their golden opportunity—twelve long years of it.

Remember, too, that the first essential of doing a job well is to want to see the job done. Make no mistake about this: the Republican leadership today is not against the way we have done the job. The Republican leadership is against the job's being done.

Look to the source of the promises of the past. Governor Lehman knows and I know how little legislation in the interests of the average citizen would be on the statute books of the State of New York, and of the Federal Government, if we had waited for Republican leaders to pass it.

The same lack of purpose of fulfillment lies behind the promises of today. You cannot be an Old Guard Republican in the East, and a New Deal Republican in the West. You cannot promise to repeal taxes before one audience and promise to spend more of the taxpayers' money before another audience. You cannot promise tax relief for those who can afford to pay, and, at the same time, promise more of the taxpayers' money for those who are in need. You simply cannot make good on both promises at the same time.

Who is there in America who believes that we can run the risk of turning back our Government to the old leadership which brought it to the brink of 1933? Out of the strains and stresses of these years we have come to see that the true conservative is the man who has a real concern for injustices and takes thought against the day of reckoning. The true conservative seeks to protect the system of private property and free enterprise by correcting such injustices and inequalities as arise from it. The most serious threat to our institutions comes from those who refuse to face the need for change. Liberalism becomes the protection for the far-sighted conservative.

Never has a Nation made greater strides in the safeguarding of democracy than we have made during the past three years. Wise and prudent men- intelligent conservatives—have long known that in a changing world worthy institutions can be conserved only by adjusting them to the changing time. In the words of the great essayist, "The voice of great events is proclaiming to us. Reform if you would preserve." I am that kind of conservative because I am that kind of liberal.
