How To Sing With A Similar Voice Like Rihanna?

I want to learn how she vibrates her voice so well after singing a few words in a song, and I also would like to know the best technique to have her kind of vocal range. I know everyone has different voices and vocal range, but that also doesn't mean that we can't adapt to a certain level of singing. I have to sing her song "Take A Bow" for my talent show and your help would be appreciated. :) Thanks

Most of Rihanna's recordings are heavily auto-tuned. And she doesn't really have much of a range. There is a lot of studio mixing in those recordings. Even if you imitated her voice perfectly, there is no way you will sound the same as the recording unless you have the same state-of-the-art sound equipment to make you sound that way. You won't be able to repeat that live because she can't either. There is a lot of lip-synching during so-called "live concerts". Even if she sings a little, there is still a lot of prerecorded tracks involved.

Plus Cherallison does have a point about someone younger attempting to imitate an adult. It can be potentially damaging--especially if the adult doesn't have good healthy singing techniques either.

I obviously don't hold Rihanna in as high esteem as you do. I don't think she would have had a singing career if she hadn't been lucky enough to be beautiful. She does have some talent and she has worked very hard to become successful, so I will grant her that. It's a matter of taste of what appeals to you in music. However, you can absolutely wreck your voice if it turns out your voice is REALLY different from the person you want to imitate.

I just read this evening a suggestion by someone to another person who wanted to sing high notes that they should put their tongue on the roof of their mouths or behind their front teeth. (I hear Cherallison laughing already). Don't try to learn to sing on Youtube either. I'm sure this is where the person got this stupid advice. I found a website once where a "singing teacher" advocated pressing your tongue down with a spoon to create a concave space. Why?

Do this and see if you can sing anything AT ALL!! Better still, don't do this. You'll hurt yourself.

The types of female singing voice are Soprano (highest), Mezzo-Soprano (second highest lying between Soprano and Contralto) and Contralto/Alto (the lowest.) The category you fall under depends on where you are most comfortable singing, so even if you can't reach all the notes that your vocal type ranges from, if your voice is strongest between those note boundaries then that is the vocal type you are. These vocal types aren't that strict, they're just used as guidelines. There are varying types of soprano, mezzo and alto. Some sopranos can sing B3 or A3 and others can't. Your vocal type is just based on which range of notes you sing most comfortably. Also I doubt your speaking voice can be used to determine what your vocal range should be...

Voice coach is your answer. I doubt you can do what she does and I just bet your still very young with an immature larynx and therefore you do not have the capability through lack of technique and biological growth to achieve it.

Asking other amateur singers on Y.A.can only cause you laryngeal abuse
