I was invited to a Kurdish celebration by my neighbor, Free Newroz, I think it is. I accepted but now having doubts.?
My neighbor, an older Kourdish woman invited me to go to their celebration tomorrow. She offered to make me an outfit and asked if I would dance with them. Of course! But I'm starting to get nervous (and I'm sure if its because I'm completely nieve) because I know nothing of the language. I know some of the background but don't want to be rude or do something that would be considered disrespectful out of complete lack of understanding. I've even contemplating cancelling but I've already consented at the beginning of the week and she just asked if I was ready for tomorrow. SO, I don't know if I run over there and tell her something came up but I appreciate it, knowing she could have actually made the outfit (she makes them all day for her and her daughters) or if I just suck it up. I also was under the impression I could bring my husband but she said she wanted me to go with her tomorrow. I can't be gone from 9am-6pm. My husband doesn't mind that I go, however he'll be here with the kids and one of them has a project I was supposed to help with tomorrow.Suggestions? Only helpful comments please.
I actually spoke with her and simply misunderstood. going to follow her in my car. I am not there all day. I guess I just got nervous. I'm actually pretty excited.

I can understand your nervousness, but it would be very rude to decline at this point. Kurdish people are very nice and your needs should be taken care of. Nowruz (Iranian new year) is a time of celebration and there is nothing to worry about. I can't think of a reason why you shouldn't go. Everything will be okay. :)
