I was invited to a Kurdish celebration by my neighbor, Free Newroz, I think it is. I accepted but now having doubts.?
My neighbor, an older Kourdish woman invited me to go to their celebration tomorrow. She offered to make me an outfit and asked if I would dance with them. Of course! But I'm starting to get nervous (and I'm sure if its because I'm completely nieve) because I know nothing of the language. I know some of the background but don't want to be rude or do something that would be considered disrespectful out of complete lack of understanding. I've even contemplating cancelling but I've already consented at the beginning of the week and she just asked if I was ready for tomorrow. SO, I don't know if I run over there and tell her something came up but I appreciate it, knowing she could have actually made the outfit (she makes them all day for her and her daughters) or if I just suck it up. I also was under the impression I could bring my husband but she said she wanted me to go with her tomorrow. I can't be gone from 9am-6pm. My husband doesn't mind that I go, however he'll be here with the kids and one of them has a project I was supposed to help with tomorrow.Suggestions? Only helpful comments please.
1 AnswerOther - Cultures & Groups7 years agoMy ex has become a dead beat dad. I need to modify our custody order... read on for more info. Thanks?
I divorced my ex-husband years ago with agreement to equal time with our kids. We were peaceful and I had (and still have) the boys in mind. They were infants when we separated (They are 10 and 8 now) and the original agreement was joint legal and open everything else. Since the original agreement, he has left the state (for years)... came back.. left again and has been gone for over two years. He filed the original paperwork, which means he spent the money for first paper filing. He's abandoned our children and I want to take full custody. He has not called in months, refuses to give them the time of day, My current husband and I paid round trip to send the boys up for the summer because they live with us but never wanted to deprive the boys of anything...Since they came home, not a word has been said, no phone calls have been returned and they got home over 3 months ago! Shamefully, I had to call the ex's girlfriend's cell phone and text several times to get any type of response. BUT... clearly the care factor on his end is zero.... Like I said previously, I'm wanting to take full custody with child support.... He's been a dead beat dad and I'm tired of it and I'm tired of being "the nice guy". Can anyone point me in the right direction? I need to modify the order but to be honest, I can't afford to pay $300+ for filing fees, after all... school just started and they needed new clothes, shoes, backpacks and school supplies. Got that covered. I hate that I had to even ask this... But.. never the less, your help is greatly appreciated. ~~~~I don't want anything other than cognitive advise, Thank you ~~~~

I'm stuck at home today doing paperwork and phone calls. What should I make for lunch?
I'd run down what's in my fridge/pantry but that could get extensive. So I figured I'd let the community shout out some ideas and go with one or piece several of them together. I don't want to fry anything because the weather outside is finally cool enough to not run the A/C. Thanks in advance!
PS
I'm not big on hamburgers :)
