Should We the People Decide on ObamaCare?

There is so much debate about the ACA. It could be the most divisive issue in the US. Why not let the people vote on it and settle it once and for all?

Here's the petition to put it on the ballot this November-

Sounds like a great idea but the Democrats would never agree to that because they know it would be defeated

Its not the way our country works, we have a representative government. Also, our laws can't be subject to change simply by the whim of public opinion.

You do know that the petition site you referred to allows 13 year olds to sign also.

Furthermore, you can't add anything of that nature to a Federal ballot. Issues you may see on a ballot from time to time, are either State or local. There has never been a Federal issue, nor is it allowable under the Constitution.

Because you live in a REPUBLIC, my uniformed friend, NOT a "direct democracy"...Your Founding Fathers deliberately avoided the need for a "titled Class" to correct any stupid decisions 'the majority' might make by giving you a republic wherein you freely & democratically elect your Representatives, but where they then are obliged by the US Constitution to vote as THEY think best rather than any majority may (or may not) wish...

Letting "We the People" vote on legislation would be mob rule, PRECISELY the thing your Founders sought to avoid by giving you a republic! Are you now saying your Founders were WRONG?

Yes...much better than it being passed behind closed doors with bought votes

I would at least take the time to read it before deciding

Because our elected officials make laws. ACA is the right thing to do, because we were the only advanced country without full medical care for all citizens. Why are Republicans bent on bankrupting poor people who get sick? Because Republicans care about money, not people.

Umm...don't you really mean 'We the bobble-head Conservatives?'

    Bobble, bobble...yup...whatever you say...bobble, bobble.
