Question about increase in knitting?
I am trying to knit a v neck sweater. The instructions for the back say that i need to decrease one stitch at each end on every sixth row and continue this way for six inches. Then after i need to increase one stitch at each end and continue this way for four inches. Do i need to make the increase on a purl row as well?

No. Your increases are made on the right side, and since they are made after an even number of rows, you will always do them on the right side. It is usual practice to "work even" on the purl, or wrong side, rows. That means neither increase nor decrease, but just work the stitches as they appear. The shaping that you have described is waist shaping.

You increase on the every 6th row. Whether the 6th row is a purl row or a knit row makes no difference.
