I do not have a mobile number?

I do not have a mobile phone and therefore do not have a mobile number; yet Yahoo is screaming at me to give them my mobile number in casde I forget my password. What do I do to ask them not to force me to have a mobile phone?

You cannot create a new Yahoo account without supplying a valid mobile number. Yahoo regards this as an additional safety feature, but by doing so, they blatantly disregard the interests of all folks who do not own a mobile because they don't need it and don't want it...:-(

Staff member Nixon answered and posted the above help link in another question...:-(

Workaround posted by other users: either post the phone number of a person you trust (if they allow it) or post a random number - Yahoo won't try to verify whether the number is really yours. But if you resort to this workaround, better make sure that you never forget your account details...:-)

When I signed up back in 2006 we weren't asked for mobile numbers yet, and I still don't have amobile because I don't need and want it. Now I too get the message that Yahoo wants my number (which I don't have), but I wouldn't exactly call it screaming, since the message only pops up every couple of weeks - and when I click "remind me later", I can forget about it until next time...:-)
