would this be a good first motorcycle for me?
I'm 6 foot 6 and 300 pounds I've never ridden a motorcycle before but I'm looking at a 1987 Honda Goldwing 1200. I know people say that they are heavy for first bikesbut I figured do to my size I could handle it what do you think?

It all depends on you as an individual. The more a bike weighs the harder it is to throw around on turns. I went with a ninja 500 for a first bike and wished that I had gotten a 250 simply because I didn't feel comfortable with the weight if I got stuck in a situation where I needed to maneuver. I'm only 130lbs though, 5'4, and tend to be over cautious when one wrong move can kill me.
I've seen people start with those bikes and never have a problem and I've seen people start with those bike, underestimate the power or weight, and total the bike two weeks after getting their licence.
Bottom line:
If you feel comfortable with the weight of the bike, preferably can pick it up, and are cautious while you learn the bike and what it can do, you should be ok. If your nervous or uneasy though get something smaller for 6 months or so til your comfortable and step up. Starting smaller is usually recommended.

I would recommend starting with a smaller bike. The wing is a nice bike, but it is not beginner friendly.

It's cheap, it's used, it's generally reliable and will fit you. You won't cry if you tip it over.
Take a MSF or Rider's Edge course (US) first. They provide the bike.
You might be surprised what a smaller bike can carry!
