Question about evolution?

Simple question, but I know about the Cambrian Explosion, but what other evolutionary "explosions" were there?

Thanks in advance.

Whenever there is a major extinction event, there follows an 'explosion' of diversification as the remaining organisms take advantage of newly-available niches in the ecosystem which are either vacated by extinct species or created by whatever caused the extinctions.

A good example is the explosion of mammal forms following the extinction of the dinosaurs 65 million years ago.

The rapid evolution of new species may also take place where previous forms become separated, for example when islands are formed or continents separated. Examples include the formation of the Atlantic Ocean and the separation of Australia

Wow. You're not even capable of noticing how ridiculous your own arguments are. F'rinstance, this:

"Fossils are the result of the worldwide flood."

    directly contradicts this:

"Fish float when they die; rot or get eaten. They don't turn into fossils."

When the amount of cognitive dissonance required to keep your "theory" in your head is so high you can't even be consistent over two paragraphs, that just might be a sign that it's complete ****.

This is Science and Math. If you are interested in fables and religious beliefs, find the right category.

Gordi is right. When an extinction happens, there are all sorts of ecological niches available so the few species that survive the extinction find an environment with lots of opportunities to specialize.

Why are there fossils at all?

Fish float when they die; rot or get eaten. They don't turn into fossils.

And yet we have fossils with intricate details of eyes and scales.

Think of the mudflows in Japan. The silica in the sediment penetrated the living tissues of plants and animals trapped in mudflows and buried under tons of water for a year - under extreme pressure, the lifeforms were turned to stone.

Smaller animals would die first and get trapped first. Larger animals, running to higher ground would be layered on top.

Whole forests are buried worldwide UPRIGHT. Google images of 'polystrate fossils' to see for yourself.

Once around the sun is a year, no?

The world spins at 1000 mph, and is hurdling through space at 67000 mph.

Now hold up a rock and tell me please; how many times has it been around the sun?

The half life of isotopes in granite form at 1/10000ths of a second. This is provable in a lab. That means that we know for a fact that granite formed faster than you can snap your fingers.

If you are conditioned into thinking the world has spun around the sun for billions of years (from the time you were seven or eight I am guessing), then your view of the world will be just that.... you have believed the same lie that your teacher did who taught you, and her teacher before her.

The truth is the world was created BEFORE the first day was created. Everything was called into being over the first few days - but they already existed in the spirit realm. Just like you were called into having your being now. That is why you are called a human being.

There is over a billion dollars in government grants, huge egos and reputations are at stake for scientists to keep this fragile lie going.

Fossils are the result of the worldwide flood.

Oh... and one more thing: if you are just the result of some bug that crawled up on a beach somewhere, then there is no purpose for life, no reason for it, and it has no worth. Your brain would be just the result of billions of cosmic accidents, and therefore could not be trusted for rational thought.

You may as well go live the most selfish life you can while you can because this is all you will ever get.

Or... this is a way to a better place. Do not be a lazy historian. Find out about the event that split history into two. Sort through the lies (let your ears listen carefully to the evidence). And make a decision. Your life and the life of those you care about depends on it.

@ Gary: my answer is ALL science, dummy. Too bad you hate the truth. You might find peace if you loved it. (Brushes your dirt off as a testimony against you and walks away).
