Does the notion we came from monkeys?

and the universe came from a singularity smaller than the size of a pinhead give you a good chuckle.

Update:

@all hat: Atheists have caused over 200 million deaths in history. Christianity is prevalent in 1st world countries and helps contribute to society through the power of the Living God.

Not at all, but my intelligence is in the top two per cent.

That allows me to understand much which will be forever hidden from you

For instance, that the cosmos was not created. It occurred spontaneously.

Also that science has found conclusive evidence that the first life forms emerged

over two billion years ago, and evolved into the plants and animals which populate the

    earth today.

Only someone quite ignorant of the most basic understandings of evolution would confuse the fact that

apes and monkey have a common ancestor with humans, with the silly notion that man is descended

    from monkeys.

You really need to find topics that you know something about, if you are going to insist upon using

    Yahoo Answers.

The thought of brainless people telling others that they know for a fact that a magical fairy sky king made the universe pop into existence gives me a pretty good laugh

But only if I'm high enough to forget about how tragic that really is.

Nothing funny about it. Religion has caused more hatred, fear, and destruction than anything else in our history. And science continues to reveal new and frightening things we can't begin to comprehend or accept.

It's as serious as anything in the world, man. Nothing funny about any of it.

    no, not at all...

but an invisible, magic man living in the clouds is a laugh riot.

actually, its not funny, its truly pitiful that some people still cling to bronze-aged superstitions in this day and age. its abundantly clear however that you lack the intellectual capacity to understand complex, adult concepts. maybe you should go to school or get a job and join the rest of us in reality-land...okay princess ?

No. Pinheads like you make me a little sad.

I know this video is wasted on you, but it just seems appropriate.

No it saddens everyone that you seem to lack education and so are unable to live in reality!

The Pope, Catholic Church, Church of England and mainstream churches all accept the big bang and evolution!

Lord Carey the former Archbishop of Canterbury put it rather well – “Creationism is the fruit of a fundamentalist approach to scripture, ignoring scholarship and critical learning, and confusing different understandings of truth”!

Nice that Christians and atheists can agree and laugh together even if it is at fundie expense!

But behind the laughter is the despair at the fundamentalists striving so hard to destroy Christianity by turning it from a religion to an ideology!

Surveys suggest that 29% of American Christians are so extremist in their beliefs that they fall well outside of the accepted bounds of Christianity!

If you intend to post like this again please state which extremist sect you belong to so that GOOD Christians can disassociate themselves from you and explain why your sect is so at odds with Christianity!

Why even try the lie that atheists have killed anyone let alone the numbers you quote which sadly are of those killed by Chrsitianity!

Stalin was raised a Catholic and completely controlled the Russian Orthodox Church!

Fidel Castro was at the worst agnostic and actually protected religions!

Kim Jong-Il is a god head for his own religion and is very pro religion and encouraged the building of Russian orthodox churches in North Korea!

Napoleon Bonaparte had a strong belief in God, but he voiced many criticisms of organized religion!

Ho Chi Minh was a Mahayana Buddhist!

Che Guevara was raised a Catholic and although he left the catholic church he remained a Christian!

Benito Mussolini Converted to Roman Catholicism in 1927 and encouraged the building of Catholic churches!

    Mao Zedong was a Buddhist!

Pol Pot is the only one who might have been an atheist but all the historians will say is that he saw the dreadful things done to his people in the name of religion and that is why he banned it!

But what silly claims like yours do is draw attention to the fact that whilst there has never, EVER, been a war in the name of atheism there have been many in the name of Christianity!

    Biblical wars,

    Crusades.

    Inquisition.

WWII - Hence today I believe that I am acting in accordance with the will of the Almighty Creator: by defending myself against the Jew, I am fighting for the work of the Lord. - Adolf Hitler

My feelings as a Christian points me to my Lord and Savior as a fighter.

    - Adolf Hitler

As a Christian I have no duty to allow myself to be cheated, but I have the duty to be a fighter for truth and justice... And if there is anything which could demonstrate that we are acting rightly it is the distress that daily grows. For as a Christian I have also a duty to my own people. - Adolf Hitler

George W Bush started FIVE wars in less than eight years stating each time that it was his "God Given Duty” and in 2001 even called it a Crusade!

Not his duty to the electors!

    Not his duty to America!

Just his duty to keep slaughtering heathens for his god!

Not as much as the notion of a talking snake and a really big boat.

    Now, *that's* funny...

No. Both are well-supported scientific facts.

    P.S.

Technically we didn't "come from" monkeys, we share a common ancestor with monkeys.

No. But every time I think about creationism, the song "Whoop! There It Is!" comes to mind, and I get an awesome laugh.

Not any more it doesn't. I only laugh at those who deny that it's possible. Any more, I really do not care.
