What is the flipside argument to rotating pastures?

the flip side would be not to rotate livestock through pastures and have the animals stay on one pasture forever. They will, of course eat all the plants down to nothing and the manure will over fertilize the soil as well as causing the livestock to refuse to eat in areas where there is manure. It will lead to very unhealthy pasture

The good part of rotation. You can control forage usage and maintain better ground cover. You can also transfer types of plants from area to area thru animal droppings. You can more evenly fertilize using animal droppings. The bad part. Lots of fencing and gates. You also must arrange for water in all areas.

Pro:
Reduces crop disease - use less control chemicals
Reduces insect infestation - use less control chemicals
Reduces soil nutrient depletion - use less fertilizer
Con:
Usually one field is left fallow for 1 year so you do not have any production from that field
Limited crop production due to having at least 4 fields and 3 different crops with different nutrient requirements.
If you wish to grow crops and use little or no chemicals, then Crop Rotation outweighs the Cons.
