The Shekina, the Holy Presence of G-d on earth, a feminine noun. is a close proximity to what you might be thinking of as "Holy Spirit". Shekinah is derived from the Hebrew verb שכן. In Biblical Hebrew that Semitic root means literally to settle, inhabit, or dwell. She is associated with the fire around the cherubim on the altar, the Sabbath and the West, setting sun.

Ruach HaKodesh is literally "Holy Breath". It would not be limited to this earth. It's a creative force that enlivens everything (even still beings such as rocks and planets and stars) more than an indwelling Presence.

Jews have more precise definitions it seems than "Holy Spirit". There are also aspects, "Netzach" and "Hod" associated with the Glory of G-d and with Prophecy. Christians seem to lump everything together to engineer a third of a Trinity..

    Consider this:

    1 Samuel 10

9 As Saul turned to leave Samuel, God changed Saul’s heart, and all these signs were fulfilled that day. 10 When he and his servant arrived at Gibeah, a procession of prophets met him; the Spirit of God came powerfully upon him, and he joined in their prophesying. 11 When all those who had formerly known him saw him prophesying with the prophets, they asked each other, “What is this that has happened to the son of Kish? Is Saul also among the prophets?”

YHWH has stated he is the Holy Spirit. Jesus said he would send the "Spirit of Truth" not the Holy Spirit. This is what confuses people. When the Lord assigned spirits to full fill a specific task, the spirit took on the name of the task. But Jesus said the "Comfort a, the Spirit of Truth" will be sent to all those whom "Hear the word of God, and obey it."

Jesus said the Spirit of Truth would help us in our studying, and in our life, to reveal to us what was truthfully preached by Jesus.

As I understand it, trhere's the concept of "Ruach Eloim", the Breath of God: but somebody better versed in Judiasm than I am would have to explain the fine detail. I don't think a "holy spirit" is hived off as a seperate entity, for one thing.

Not in the way Christians use the term; in Judaism there is not and never has been a trinity.

When they refer to the "holy spirit" or the "spirit of God", they are talking about God himself, not a separate part of him.

So it's not a separate being of God... it's just one of the many terms used to describe God himself.

No. The Holy Spirit of God dwells in all Christians who truly know HIM!

No. There isn't a holy spirit anywhere. It's all imaginary

    Yes...Ruach Ha Kodesh.

But, it's not thought of in the same way that Christianity does
