How to find the ratio of x to y?
I have to find the ratio of x to y for: -6x + 20y = 0.
Please don't give me the answer, I already have it. (My teacher gives us answers on review sheets before our tests so that we can check ourselves)
Please just tell me how to solve this problem!

The ratio of x to y is the gradient of the line, so that is what you are trying to find. To do that, I would make two sample point using the equation, then use the normal equation to find the gradient between these two points. if it slopes down the answer is negative, and if it slopes upwards your answer is positive. Have a go with substituting some numbers in, I am not going to do it for you, you need to figure out how to do it yourself. This is a simple straight line equation! Hope this helps :)

-6x + 20y = 0
Add 6x on both sides,
-6x + 6x + 20y = 0 + 6x
20y = 6x
Dividing both sides by y,
6x/y = 20y/y
6x/y = 20
Now, dividing both sides by 6,
x/y = 20/6
= 10/3
