Best first car?
Cars are not my forte at all and I'm trying to help my son get a vehicle. I plan on paying and I refuse to purchase a 500 thousand dollar car because the insurance and, as I was told, you are only paying for the name. I want to him something nice, that's safe, comfortable, and low on insurance. I hear German cars are very expensive to repair so maybe not a German car. I was thinking a 2004 Crown Victoria would be nice for him but he does not like it. If you guys have any ideas help me out! Money is not an issue but I don't want to pay for a car that cost as much as a house. Thanks for helping!!

I actually think a Crown Victoria / Police Interceptor is an excellent choice for a first car for a young driver. Among the reasons why, cars of this type have been in fleet service both with police and taxi companies that get over 300K miles out of them, so it will run forever, and there will always be parts and service available for this car. It is a sturdy car, that could take some damage and abuse and still protect occupants in case of accident.
And to pick other cars, follow the same rules, what cars do you see a lot of Taxi companies using? I see plenty of Dodge Vans, and my family has owned a few of those, that's what I drove in high school. Lately I see some Toyota Prius taxis, and that is the point where we say, hybrid isn't just a fad, the Taxi guys have decided it is cost efficient to put tons of miles on, so anyway, try the kid out with a Prius.

If Money is not an issue but you're trying to get him a 2004 Crown Victoria, hm...What is your son into? Is he the Sport outdoors type? Get him an SUV like a Ford Escape, Jeep Liberty, and so on...if he's more into fast cars, how about an American Muscle Car like a Ford Mustang, Chevy Camaro, Pontiac G6.
Try and remember your first car experience and what you wish it had and try to work with that.
