Does anyone have suggestions for a good ferret rat cage?
I know there are a lot of questions like this with answers, but they seem to be from years ago and products and reviews change over time. Does anyone have a suggestion for a good (and preferably cheap) ferret cage that would be suitable for two male rats?
Also, are there any suggestions on how to keep the bedding inside the cage? I'm starting to think rats actually pick up the bedding with their little front paws, walk over to the bars, and then chuck it as far as they can across the floor...Lol. I currently use CareFresh. Have I just been using the wrong bedding?
Thanks!

Ferret cage bars are too far apart for rats. The bars are spaced at around 1/2" while rat charges are 1/4". So you need a cage meant for rats. http://www.drsfostersmith.com/ has really good prices Here's one really nice one http://www.drsfostersmith.com/product/prod_display... That's actually really cheap as good cages go.
As for the bedding a lot of the stuff made for ferrets you could use and a lot of the beds have clips to secure it to the cage so it can't be moved.
You also may want to see if your local animal shelter takes rats or if there is a local rat rescue near you. When people give up their rats they often donate the cage as well. I know the shelter I volunteer with adopt out 2 ferrets with a really nice cage it's only like $50 for everything - rats AND cage.
