Is my teacher obligated to mark my coursework?
Okay, so I do an A-Level which is made up of 70% coursework which comes in the form of a short film. The date that the examination board requires the coursework to be handed in is May 12th. I have had difficulties getting my film completed and now my teacher is saying that he/she will not accept or mark any coursework handed in after April 18th.
I fear that I will not meet this date but could have it done two or three days after this. So is my teacher obligated in any way that he/she will have to mark my coursework as long as it's in a week before the examination hand-in date?

I agree a deadline is a deadline. Work turned in too late is not obligated to be marked. If you were having problems you should have asked about more time BEFORE the end date.
LEARN this lesson it is a life skill that will help you in the real world of work. Don't do your work on time = DON'T get paid or lose the job. It's as simple as that!

Deadlines are deadlines. If the teacher is sympathetic she should at least look at your film and give you advice before the examiners get it. However, if she has lots of other coursework to mark and yours is late, she is within her rights to refuse to look at it. It makes her look like a bit of a jerk, though.

I think you may be on thin ice. It's not what the teacher says it's the policy of the school that matters. Ask your parent(s) to phone the head teacher/principal and discuss the matter with them.
