  • HTC One M8 Electric Shock?

Ok so I bought a new HTC One M8 last May (2014) and it has been excellent in every single way. However lately I've been noticing that when the phone is charging or connected via an aux cable, that I get a small electric shock from the metal casing. Now I have used multiple different chargers and different auxiliary cables but it happens time and time again. I feel as though this isn't very safe and that I should bring it back to the store. What should I do?

  • Electrostatics Problem?

Could anyone help me with this Guassian Surfaces problem?

Consider a spherically symmetric charge cloud with a charge density which falls off as p(r) = A/r for r < R and it is zero everywhere else. For this charge density distribution write down an expression for the charge in a thin shell from r to r +dr, if r < R.

Write an expression for the voltage across R1 in terms of V1 and V2.?

Can someone please provide a detailed explanation as to how you find, using Kirchoff's loop rule, write an expression for the voltage across R1 in terms of V1 and V2, as I am completely lost!

  • Physics Resistance Question. (A Level)?

Can anyone give me an answer to this problem.

Power is sent to a garden lamp by a flexible cable. The cable consists of two conductors, each of length 6.5 m, in series. Each conductor has 27 strands of thin copper wire, each with diameter 0.1 mm. The resistivity of copper is 1.7x10^-8 Ω m.

Calculate the total resistance of the cable.

    Thanks!

  • A Level Physics Question.?

I'm struggling with this past paper question. Could someone give me a complete step by step way of answering this. I've found the number of electrons, but can't get the number of photons!

A total charge of 3.52x10^–18 C was detected in a pixel. How many photons were incident on that pixel if the photon absorption efficiency is 40%?

Absorption efficiency is the percentage of incident photons that cause an electron to be promoted from the valence band to the conduction band.

    Thanks :)

  • Is my teacher obligated to mark my coursework?

Okay, so I do an A-Level which is made up of 70% coursework which comes in the form of a short film. The date that the examination board requires the coursework to be handed in is May 12th. I have had difficulties getting my film completed and now my teacher is saying that he/she will not accept or mark any coursework handed in after April 18th.

I fear that I will not meet this date but could have it done two or three days after this. So is my teacher obligated in any way that he/she will have to mark my coursework as long as it's in a week before the examination hand-in date?

  • A Level Physics HELP! Specific Heat Capacity??!?

Can anyone give me a detailed answer to this question?

A tank contains 160 kg of water at 65 °C.

Calculate the mass of water at 20 °C that must be added in order that

the final temperature of the water in the tank is 45 °C.

Assume the heat loss to the tank in this situation is negligible.

I would be grateful if you could! Thanks!

  • Physics Question! Nuclear Decay HELP!?

I have an exam in a couple in a couple of weeks and came across this question in a past paper, can anybody give me a detailed solution? It would be greatly appreciated!

Technetium-99 (Tc-99) is a radioisotope tracer with a decay constant, k (it should be lambda I don't know how to insert it) of 0.12 hr^-1. It emits 140 keV gamma photons and is commonly used in nuclear medicine to study the functionality of body organs and systems. A patient undergoing a bone scan is injected with Tc-99 with activity 800 MBq. After how long will the total amount of gamma energy emitted from the patient every second fall to 1.0 μJ?

  • Any creative writers out there?

So, I've got an outline for a short story. I will probably make a short film on it some other time once the story is finished, but anyway, can anybody give me an idea on how to continue this story, we get dropped right into the middle of an ongoing sequence:

At night a phone rings in a phone box. A man answers it and brings it up to his face. On the other end of the line is a mysterious caller whom the man does not know. The mysterious caller asks the man a few questions. The man in the phone box is rather panicky and seems to fear the person on the other end of the line. The mysterious caller then asks the man in the phone box "What did it feel like when you done it? Did you have any regrets?" The man doesn't reply and there is a flash back to the man entering a store. He is standing in an empty isle and then a shop clerk comes up to him and asks if he is ok to which he eventually replies "No". The man tells the clerk to leave him alone. He walks to his car where he opens the boot and begins loading the shopping. Then, something catches his eye, there is something under one of the bags. He pushes the bags away and pulls out a small piece of paper. He closes the boot and sits in the drivers seat of the car. He looks at the piece of paper. There is a sequence of numbers on it. He looks up with a shocked expression. We cut back to the phone box. He mysterious caller is still on the phone. The man lifts his hand up, he has the piece of paper in his hand.

Now I know what I just wrote isn't detailed but does anyone have any ideas as to how I should continue and then finish the story off? I'd like a good plot twist but I've been trying for over a week now to come up with something and I'm just drawing a blank!

ANY help would be massively appreciated!

    Thanks!

  • PHYSICS QUESTION HELP! (A Level Physics)?

pI've tried this question but can't seem to get the right answer, I always end up with 0.34 for the velocity?!

Can you please help as I have a test coming up soon and need to be able to answer a question like this!

A rugby player of mass 110kg moving at a velocity of 2.00ms21 collides with an opponent moving with twice the momentum in the opposite direction. After the collision the players move together with a common velocity and total kinetic energy of 115 J.

Calculate the magnitude of the common velocity and state the direction the players move after the collision (with respect to the direction the rugby player of mass 110 kg was originally moving).

  • Getting to Armagh? Please help?

I need to get from Lisburn to

Armagh Monday-Friday for all of July, but I don't know the easiest route. I think that getting a train from Lisburn to Portadown and then a bus from Portadown to Armagh is the best way. Unless there is an easier more direct route, can any one tell me what bus to get, I was told the 61 stops outside the train station but I don't know what side of the road it stops, does it stop at the side of the train station or the other side? Please help
