Who is true secular?

There is lot of cry about whom or which political party is secular in India. There is different and conflicting opinion as all political parties show their positive side on this issue. What I personally feel that in India, because there are people of different religions each having inborn affection towards people of his/her religion and natural hate towards the people of other religion, yet everyone compromise to the situation and live peacefully with people of other religion, the secularism is matter of compromise for all Indians and no one can say that there is natural love and affection between people of different religions in India, may be this because the childhood upbringing on gets in the family.

To call all the people of India total secular by nature is not digestible however to keep peace in the society every Indian compromise with the situation and live together with people of different religion showing themselves as secular.

The same one can say about the various political parties in India, their mood and following towards people of one religion may change according to the situation and I do not see any natural secularism in any political party that one can see during the election time, most of the candidates of the political party never miss opportunity for indulging in their own religious ceremonies in order to please GOD to help them to win the election, if they were so much secular in nature than why do religious ceremonies of their own religion.

Update:

I also do not understand that why any political party require support of any particular religious head for winning the election.

In today’s world the children are not listening to their own parents and one expect them to listen to their religious head to decide and vote for a particular political party.

The religious heads in 21st century are making mockery of themselves by indulging in political publicity for political parties and they need to be neutral in their approach in this respect.

The problem with India is that we all live in multi-religious, multi-cultural, multi -lingual, society with 1/5th population of the world and in this scenario it is very difficult for anyone to call him/her a total neutral and unbiased from all these aspects, still we represent that just for keeping peace in the society/country.

Another 20% is in China and has no problem. Secularism is "keeping religion in 4 walls - if creates tension" but India makes mockery of everything - democracy, capitalism, law and order, constitutional rights and then why not of secularism.

The shrines have turned into shops of politicians here UNLIKE in any another country.

There is crowd on roads only on religious occasions and nobody comes out to celebrate 8/15 or 1/26.

You being forefront lawyer on this session, I want to point out two serious lapses in Indian comprehension. One relates to constitution.

    (i) It has gone un-noticed that when Hindus massacre Muslims - Hindu fascist wing including BJP comes in defense saying " legitimate outburst of anger " ( and same is used by Raaj Thakarey to explain beating of North Indians)....... while when Muslims massacre Hindus INC never come with such fascist explanations.

(ii) there is law against cow-slaughter and to the bet of my knowledge the complaint is taken immediately and justice done swiftly.... But there is a law against untouchability but no one is punished because no one complains AND to register complaint against serious atrocities it takes almost an year and that too if any political party moves in. In KHAIRANJALI, a dalit family was burnt and the single survivor pushed the case - when police went for inquiries , fascist orgs. sent people with saffron flags to protest against police intervention.

With 77% people BPL and 72% in rural India .... this country is far away from civilization and the poor idiot folk are misused by urban fascists to raise the stakes.

Problem ? All sections - judiciary , bureaucracy, statesmen, media practice Hinduism on personal level and so change is impossible. A Judge's defense on Ayodhya Birthplace verdict is ( of course- not public ) " I have to get granddaughters married in my caste":

So, No one is seriously against Hindu fascism and so this country has no civilized future. ...neither it has prosperous future. That is good in a sense - because more money brings more fascism here . Babri was destroyed after an year of huge money inflow by liberalization. ( But the Pundit Exodus from valley was before liberalization - I must add.)

If Muslims have an agendas and ways to get at them, does that mean the so-called tolerant and secular (despite untouchability) Hindus must follow their fascists to counteract that ?

I think there is no way out - In conclusion , Making of Pakistan was INCOMPLETE for both sides.

On a personal level true secular is someone who has not been brainwashed from beginning that this religion is good this religion is bad etc, someone who has an open mind to what is right and what is wrong. Such people are present in society but they're wise enough to not to choose the politics or (sometimes) government service as their occupation, they mostly settle abroad instead of wasting time here with closed minded people.

In political parties I don't think anyone is truly secular. Many are there who are not at all religious but they will show their affection towards religions for vote banks so I think we cannot accurately tell who's secular and who's not. Like you said almost everyone (no matter he's a religious orthodox or conservative or atheist) holds an affection towards same religion. I see discrimination in India on basis of caste only....religion is a bigger thing so naturally what you said is right for 99.99% of people I guess.
