How do I avoid having URLs truncated by Yahoo Answers.?

Okay, so I'm at level one, and I can't insert a hyperlink. I get that. But when I try to put in a URL for copying and pasting, Yahoo Answers automatically truncates it, which kind of makes it useless. How do I keep this from happening? And how can I get past level one if I have to keep losing points just to find out how to make this work?

Some url's are indeed truncated for level 1 users - if they are too long, only part of the url is visible followed by some dots at the end. Those can NOT be copied and pasted into the window of any search engine, but there are several free shortening services online which you may use. Just enter any long url into the displayed window of those services, and with a mouse click you will receive a shortened url which you can then post here on YA. Those shortened url's will still not be clickable until you reach level 2, but by copying and pasting them into a browser window, users should be able to go where you want them to go. Note: commercial spammers often use shortened url's on YA to try and fool unsuspecting users, but besides shortening services, there are also free online services which will display the original long url - so if you use a shortened url, you may want to explain as to why, and also post a link to where users can obtain the original long url.

    Here's one shortening service: http://tinyurl.com/

And this is the service I use for finding original url's: http://longurl.org/

As I said before - there are others, I just posted those 2 because I found them to be very reliable.

As to how you can get past level 1: always choose the BA for your question - that returns 3 of the points you had to invest initially for asking, also vote on undecided questions, and of course answer more than asking...:-)

I know you have your answer, but I do need to warn you of this. Many spammers use a URL shortener to hide their spam, so many user will not click on them, and you may find questions reported if you use the link shorteners too much.

Maybe because it doesn't recogzize your URL address
