Should I give up playing the piano?

I've been playing the piano since I was 5 and I'm almost 14 now. I've played for 8 to 9 years and I still suck at it. I kind of lost all hope that I'll get any better.

I never loved playing the piano because I always felt that it was forced upon me. I wanted to give up a few years ago, but my parents wouldn't let me.

When I was about 12, I began to focus less on it because of school and education. I feel like I have no time for it and I'm still wasting my parents' money to pay for weekly lessons.

I'm kind of struggling because I don't want to completely give up those 9 years, but I'm not good at it and I rarely have time for it. I sometimes enjoy the piano when I'm not forced to practice, but then I realize that I can't play it well.

My piano teacher isn't a great teacher and I've had her for over a year. I'm not learning anything from her, but my parents won't listen to me.

This is when I begin to feel like I should just quit. Then, I hear a nice song that I want to learn to play which makes me rethink about quitting.

I'm so conflicted about this. Any advice on what to do?

I have been playing piano for 5 years. The first year I took from a crappy teacher, so it was barely piano lessons, but then I got a good teacher, and now it's really a challenge, but I love it. It is so beautiful, and so wonderful to able to play an instrument, and all that music out there. I wanted to quit a few years ago, but held on,. and now I can play pretty well. It takes about 45 mins out of my day, and one hour lesson a week. I will continue playing through high school, but not pursue a career. It's just a great gift to be in the arts.
