Taxi or Train from Schönefeld to Kurfürstendamm?

Hi,

I am arriving at Schönefeld airport around 17:30 on a Monday. Although it is rush time, I would say that the busiest direction would be from the city centre to suburbs (airport included). Am I right to say that?

With 4 people, is it worth getting a taxi to Kurfürstendamm? Any idea on how much I would expect to pay?

Cheers!

Gerd P has a good answer.

The Schonefeld railway station is five minutes walk from the airport terminal building and trains are frequent. Catch the red double decker RE service and get off at Zoologischer Garten station. The Ku'damm is just across the (very busy) road junction.

Ku'damm is a very long road. If you know the building number you are looking for you can estimate which end of the road you'll need. Use Google Maps street view to help you.

There are buses which run along its length, the bus station is just outside of the Zoo railway station. There is also a UBahn line that runs under Ku'damm with stations at verious places along the way.

If you buy a BVG Welccomecard at the airport it will include all rail, bus, tram and underground transport in Berlin for the life of the card. See this: http://www.bvg.de/index.php/en/index.html

Buy a bus ticket from the desk in the arrivals hall of the airport. It costs something like 3 euros, and is then valid for 2 hours and you can use it on buses, and the U-bahn. Get the airport bus to Potsdammerplatz, and then get the metro to the stop along Ku'damm which is nearest to your hotel.

I am German; I have just called some cab enterprises listed here:

    http://www.berlin-airport.de/en/travellers-sxf/to-... ..

The information was about €35 to € 40 depending on where on Kurfürstendamm you plan to go to since it streches about 4 kms (2.5 mls) and takes 30-45 minutes.

Public transport takes about one hour and costs €12.80 for four persons.
