C. ABCD is a trapezium of perpendicular height 1.7 cm

AB = 3.1 cm

DC = 5.6 cm

Calculate the area of ABCD?

D. Last year Mary brought some euro for a holiday in cork. She exchanged £200 for euro at a rate of £1 = euro 1.43

How many euro should she received?

E. She was unable to go to cork. later she travelled to Donegal where she bought a dress for euro 135

    Area of trapezium= half the sum of the parrallel lines* distance between them

    the distance between them is the prerpendicular height so you can work backwards from the area

    C. area= 0.5*(3.1+5.6)*1.7= 7.395 cm^2

    D. 200*1.43=286 euro

    E.at old exchange 135 euro= 135/1.43= 94.41 pounds

    at new exchange 135 euro= 135/1.36=99.26 pounds

    99.26-94.41= 4.85 pounds

    she saved 4.85 pounds
