What do people think of this article - Same-Sex Marriage — A Prescription for Better Health?
published in the New England Journal of Medicine - http://www.nejm.org/doi/full/10.1056/NEJMp1400254. For those not in the medical field, the NEJM is one of the world's leading medical journals (in spite of it's local sounding name) and doesn't publish articles with political implications unless they have good support.

I'd say that many studies have concluded that marriage has health benefits for both men and women, and I would have been surprised if same sex relationships didn't have the same benefits. This study seems to point to the fact that same sex marriages also have those same health benefits, and I am unsurprised.
Your first answerer, Raymond, seems confused. Male same sex couples have the same or lower rates of infidelity, from the studies I've seen, as straight marriages. In short, your narrative that male homosexuals are more likely to fail to be loyal is an empty and unsupportable claim, Ray. Try again.

Muret said, "The only people who assign political implications to research are the people who want there to be political implications. Research should be exempt from all that."
Really?
NEJM has a long reputation for staying above political issues for the sake of politics. Had the article been anti-gay and Zvi not mentioned NEJM's policy of avoiding politics you'd have been praising them for their INDEPENDENT evidence supporting your own religious based bigotry towards gays....

Statistically men, in general, are healthier and live longer lives when they are are married. That's been proven to be true for years.
Anything that reduces psychological distress in people will promote better health. I think legalizing same-sex marriage will prove to be a good thing.

I'm sorry, but science is science.
The only people who assign political implications to research are the people who want there to be political implications. Research should be exempt from all that.

Men live longer if they find a good mate and don't cheat, neither of which is likely with same sex mariage, but the spread of sexually transmitted diseases will be slightly reduced (for the whole population) if homos are loyal to their mate.
