Personally, i believe it depends on the circumstances. If someone wants to simply commit suicide but are too scared to do it themselves, no, that should not be allowed. Where i see a "gray area" if you will, is when the person has a terminal illness. I've seen too many elderly people suffer the last few weeks/months of their lives with absolutely no chance of survival.
My "grandma" (not by blood, just very close) was 96. Driving, mowing her own grass, in great shape and refused to stop doing those household chores. she was hit with illness and lived the last 4 months of her life in bed, unable to do anything or care for herself. Just the way she spoke and from what her daughter told us...she wanted to go and she was ready to go. It was very hard for her to live like that when she had been active for so long. don't know if assisted suicide is really the answer, but suffering sure was a terrible ending to an amazing woman's life.

Because killing someone is murder. It doesn't matter if the ask for help. No person can give you permission to break the law.
