Is there a great chance that I may have rabies?
Last night my dog bit me, I wasn't too freaked out til I saw that she may have needed a rabies shot in 2012.... My dad said that she got it but I'm not too sure.
Anyways, pretend she doesn't have her rabies shot. She hasn't been acting weird or anything, I just got a little bit too close to her while she was trying to get food. She's also never been in contact with any wild animals or really any domesticated animals. Every time she goes outside she's being watched - so in that scenario is there a great chance that me and her may have rabies? I can't go to the doc right now.
Update 1: I should also add that she bit me a few months ago as well but it wasn't as bad as this bite. Does the severity of the bite have anything to do with contracting rabies?

Don't pretend that she doesn't have the shot. Call the vet and they will have it on record if she had her shot or not. Now, pretending that she doesn't.....an animal can only transfer rabies within the last ten days of their life so if your dog is alive in ten days you are fine. Also I think the last case of a rabid dog in the entire US was like 2009. So the chance that you have rabies I would say is probably about .000000000000001%. And, no, that is not a good chance

Anyway you have roughly 7 days to get your rabies shots but if you can't get to the doctor how about call the vet and see if 1. you dog is up to date or 2. if she isn't can they check the dog to make sure she doesn't have rabies (simple blood test) While rabies is rare in domestic animals, if would only take her one quick nip from a fox or bat to get rabies.

I know rabies is the question here but if the dog bit you twice, why is the dog still there. Guarding his food is a bad thing too. Your dad should not have a dog like that around his children.
I don't think you're going to get rabies, but I agree with John and his answer.

IF THERE WERE RABIES PRESENT, THE ANIMAL'S BEHAVIOR WOULD BE RADICALLY DIFFERENT. SEEMS UNLIKELY.
