I deleted a windows file now my laptop doesnt work correctly :(?
So this is what happened;
My drive C was really full and I thought of deleting seemingly 'unimportant' files and moving my pictures, music, etc. to drive D to make space for the drive. Later that day I noticed that some of the applications are not working. Like, when I go to control panel-> Appearance -> Windows sidebar prop. it says application not found and basic windows apps like photo viewer and media player not working. I'm using windows vista
Now after I deleted those files I downloaded a game of around 5gb capacity so I probably cannot retrieve the deleted files?
Anyways i'm still a beginner and help would be appreciated.
Thanks!

Power on your computer.
Begin pressing F8 once per second until you get the Windows boot/advance boot options.
Choose the option for a command prompt.
Once you have a command prompt type:
SFC /SCANNOW <ENTER>
The SFC utility will check all of your windows files and make sure they are intact and the correct versions.

I think your PC is toast. It appears you deleted some system files and the only recovery is to reinstall Windows from scratch. A boot/restore won't do it; the files are gone. You can do a system restore, but that just restores the registry, not the missing files. The good news is that it appears from your post that the PC still functions for some features.
