newish semi automatic toyota changes and gets stuck in neutral?
semi automatic toyota (automatically, without touching n)changes and gets stuck in neutral when waiting for a long time at traffic lights or during a traffic jam. It won't go back to 'e' unless you take the key out and start it up again.
Solutions?
Do you think actually using the 'n' neutral gear whilst waiting will prevent this from happening?

big plus iffin you stated the year/model/engine config.
due to the lack of info,
generically,
does, on the surface, sound like a possible fluid starvation/level issue. engine off, the fluid goes back into the pan.
big guess there. some trans are soleniod/computer controlled.
can't go wrong w/the above reply regarding the dealer. thumbs there.

EDIT, respect.
steering system is not in play here. this is a trans issue only. or a management issue of it.

Call a towing company your steering might screw up. Take it to a tire place in Arizona then buy a new car in Iowa and get a 2002 Saturn sr2 and drive that to New York exchange with me. I drive a 2014 corvette! There u go!

Hi john has the best answer. something needs to looked at as it sounds like a warranty fault.
