When should I follow up with this sales job?

I am looking at a sales job, and this last Thursday I called to see if this dealership was hiring, and the guy told me my best bet was to come in and meet with a sales manager, well I ended up meeting with one of the head guys, he was really nice! He didn't have me fill out a application, he just got to know me and he wrote down my info and my goals, he said he would talk to his sales team and see if they would like another guy on the team, he said he would call back on Friday to let me know. Well Friday came and passed with no call. Then on Saturday I remembered I had a resume to give him but left it in the car so I called him to see if he would like a copy of it so he gave me his email. And he told me there was one guy that wasn't in the meeting so he wanted to talk to him, and he would let me know. But it's been 4 days and still nothing. When should I follow up with him? I don't want to sound desperate and pushy, but I don't want him to forget either! Please help! I would really love this job! Thanks!

    Chuck,

He was playing you. He was hoping to sell you a Car. You forgot your resume? He wrote down your number so he could sell you a Car in 6 months, not hire you.

Selling Car's is cut throat and the turnover rate is high. You will also work nights and weekends.

Maybe you should start out in a Customer Service role.

Sales or selling anything is not for wimps with no confidence. It takes confidence, persistence and a thick thick skin.

If you want a Sales job, put on your best outfit, go down there and ask for the Sales Manager or General Manager and sell them on why they should hire you. If you are afraid, then apply at Old Navy.
