Atticus Finch Greatest Hero of All Time.?

On AFI's website Atticus Finch was named the greatest hero of all time. I really don't understand why he was a hero. James Bond and Indiana Jones did a lot more heroic stunts in movies then Atticus Finch. I am just wondering why. Thank you for the answer!

Not every hero has to swing swords or go on adventures. Atticus defended a black man when it was considered wrong to do so. He had strong beliefs he stuck to. The fact that he's modest about this adds to his heroism. Characters like James Bond and Indiana Jones are captivating and exciting to watch, but at the end of the day it's characters like Atticus Finch who deserve to be recognized.

It was a sort of quiet courage. As he put it, "when you know you're licked before you begin but you begin anyway."
He knew there was no way he would win Tom Robinson's case but he still took it on. He went against popular opinion in bringing up his children alone. He also stood up to a lynch mob who could easily have killed him.
