Is Egypt on its last legs as a viable nation-state?

This, I think, is an entirely legitimate question in light of Egypt's inability to feed its 84 million (and growing) population. In an article at the American Thinker website today, David Archibald provides some details on Egypt's dangerous plight in the early 21st century:

I pose this question because I think that if Egypt collapses internally, the shockwaves from such a development could reverberate in highly destructive ways. Your comments?

Egypt is facing a bleak future but look what is happening here at the same time. The EPA is putting our food providers out of business as well as using food for fuel and at the same time screaming about the wealth disparity in the world. The EPA is stopping commercial fishing due to lower levels of cod, they are stopping cattle ranching due to endangered species such as desert tortoises, wild horses, prairie dogs, and even insects while people in the world are going hungry, they are stopping oyster farming, etc. They have stopped irrigation to the US breadbasket in CA due to a worthless 2" fish. It doesn't make any sense for them to say they care about poverty while there is a shortage of food and these agencies are dramatically adding to the problem.

We see articles about Americans wasting food because it is too cheap. Where are they going with this? People are starving in many parts of the world. We used to export our excess grain, etc, to other nations in need. Now we are cutting our production to make Americans lose weight. Unbelievable. They seem to want to cut the population of the world not unlike what was done in the 1930's through starvation. Nobody can say they don't see what is coming for Egypt but why isn't the rest of the world preparing for its prevention.
