Say I don't have the software program. Can I copy it on a flash drive and put it on a new laptop?

I don't see how copying the desktop icon would copy the program itself. That should only copy the icon, which is practically useless. But I'm interested to know if that actually worked for you.... Your best bet would be to locate the installation location on the first computer, and copy all those files to the new laptop. Once it's been copied, open the folders and run/install the Application file.
