Studdering Problem?

My five year old just started studdering about 50% of the time. So far, kids in his class ARE NOT making fun of him... maybe because he is in a pre-school private school with only 12 kids per class in a really controlled environment. I know that kids can make fun of him regardless which school he goes to.

Do you think he has a less chance of being ridiculed at a private school that has 12 kids per class or at a public school that has 30 kids per class?

Your thoughts are appreciated. We are not sure which school to choose.. Both are great schools! We just thought it might be helpful that he would be in a class with less kids...

In my experience, a small private school is a better environment, but it really depends on the school. My daughter went to a small private Montessori elementary school that encouraged team building, conflict resolution, and had a zero tolerance of teasing and bullying. No such things exist in the public schools in our area, according to my many friends whose children attend US public schools (some of whom have removed their kids from the public school and opted for homeschooling because the public school administrations did nothing to address bullying).

Here's a website about stuttering, for more info: http://kidshealth.org/parent/medical/ears/stutter.... It says that stuttering happens around this age and he might grow out of it. I hope, regardless of where he goes to school, he is assessed by a professional speech therapist and assisted, if necessary?
