What's wrong with my computer?
Okay so, I know I should be a whiz at this but I need your guy's help. My Acer Aspire 5315 has been acting up lately. Whenever I am on it to do stuff, like any kind of stuff, it shuts down automatically after being on for like 45 minutes. I have a couple of options that might be the problem but I want to know from you guys. Option 1 - is it because of the battery or Option 2 - is it because of overheating. By the way...the laptop is 8 years old and I do want to consider fixing it up and maybe selling it. If you have any solutions to this problem, please let me know! I need your help!!!! Thanks so much :)

Probably the battery. Mine use to do the same.

With it being that old, it possibly sounds like the battery. Since you haven't specifically stated anything else, run it with the adapter plugged in. If that doesn't work, remove the battery and just run it with the adapter, no battery. If that doesn't work, then it really is a hardware problem, which could be overheating or something else that you wouldn't know without having it checked out.
