japanese languge question?

I am trying o translate this word in a book.

解放され

From what the dictrionary say 解放 means liberation i have know idea what

され is supposed to mean. I know that される is a conjugation of する. But there is no る at the end of the word i am trying to translate. Would you be able to help?

    解放する means to let go, to set free. As you said, the する was conjugated. It's the passive form of the verb. It just seems to have been shortened, maybe the sentence continues with another clause and they just left てout.

    As in

    解放され(て)、・・・

    It was let go and...
