I have read about a zen master who said that life is joke. What did he mean? In what ways life is like a joke?

I think, YES, Life is a SERIOUS JOKE. Because, We are Liking and Expecting the Things, and the Experiences, Which are Not in Our Control, But, Our Mind is Longing FOR THAT ONLY, Even We are Trying to Pacify IT, It is Moving as It Likes and Fail to Reach It Goals and Feel the Sadness.So, Life and the Nature "It self "is Moving with the Causes It Causes and Create the Results as It IS HAPPENS Accordingly, Without Any WORRY On "ITSELF", But, as the Part of the Nature, We are Sensing and Liking to Percept as Our Liking, While Experiencing the Uncontrollable Disillusioned Experiences, We are "DISILLUSIONED" By the NATURE, As Its "PLAYFUL TOYS", So, It is Just the JOKES of the NATURE, While We Understand IT, We CAN Laugh, "JOINTLY", Whatever Happens to us.

We treat it as something permanent even though things that comprise it disappear. Time, wealth, health,memories, bad times, good times, memories, abilities, youth, old age and even life itself disappears.

For some, God is a comedian performing before an audience,

that is afraid to laugh.

Life is but a ...

Life has its whimsical side, but life in of itself often is as funny as root canal (without gas), as funny as tax audit (after having lost required receipts), as funny as nasty illness, as funny as... much graver events than the three safe ones I provided. Some hair-raising events can in retrospect seem hilarious, but rarely, if ever, at the time of experiencing them. -Pat
