I have a CDL-A and drive only in Texas. I currently have a medical certificate, but I have been told that I don't need it instate. Drivers?

    You don't need it if you ONLY drive intrastate....BUT you must declare that to DMV and they will add an Intrastate restriction to your CDL. You can't "just not renew it" and keep driving instate. If you don't have your card on file, if you haven't declared exception than your CDL will be suspended. There is NO purpose to do that.

    You do. There are now four claasifications.Basically with a DOT card or with out. In state or interstate.You have to declare. I have heard stories about people having in state only and getting a ticket if they are out of state. I would get interstate to be safe. This is Uncle Sam's BS at its best.
